Souptik’s team moved much of its development to cloud AI agents that run around the clock. He shows that workflow, then the in-house system that sends each request to the right model instead of the most expensive one, with the usage data behind it.

Our secret sauce for keeping 24/7 AI agents affordable
At our company, agentic development is no longer just an experiment. For a few of our projects, we have shifted a large part of the development workflow to cloud-based AI agents that can work continuously.
In this talk, I’ll first give you a look at what that workflow actually looks like, including the tools we use, how agents fit into our development process, and how we make sure the code they produce still meets our quality standards.
But once you see the amount of AI involved, an obvious question comes up: how do we sustain the cost of running agents at this scale?
That is where the real topic of the talk begins.

I’m Souptik, a Product Engineer at TeamUpdraft, where I primarily work on products and initiatives within our AI Labs, while also contributing to products across the WordPress ecosystem.
Outside of work, I enjoy tinkering with hardware, experimenting with 3D printing, and generally building things just for the fun of figuring out how they work. I’m also actively involved with the Kolkata WordPress community and enjoy contributing to and learning from the wider WordPress community.
