Getting to Bengaluru

WordCamp Bengaluru 2026 is two days in two buildings, about six kilometres apart. The new travel guide covers how to reach both, from the airport, the four big railway stations and the Majestic bus stand.

Saturday 21 November, Contributor Day: Bangalore International Centre, Domlur. You need your ticket and the separate free sign-up. Take the metro to Indiranagar and an auto for the last 2 km.

Sunday 22 November, main day: St. Joseph’s Boys’ High School, Museum Road. Any ticket works. It is a 10 to 15 minute walk from MG Road or Cubbon Park metro.

From the airport, allow 60 to 90 minutes. The Vayu Vajra buses cost ₹280 to ₹300 into the centre, a cab ₹1,200 to ₹1,800, and the airport train does not run on Sundays.

The full guide has times and fares from every arrival point, plus a few things to do if you get in a day early.

The airport is the long part

There is a running joke that flying into Bengaluru takes two hours and getting from the airport to your hotel takes three. It is only partly a joke.

Kempegowda International Airport (BLR) is about 40 km north, in Devanahalli. Allow 60 to 90 minutes to the centre.

Buses leave from the bays outside arrivals; the Namma BMTC app tracks them live. The prepaid taxi counters inside arrivals are the fallback if your phone has other plans. A free airport shuttle meets every train at the halt station.

One line does most of the work

Both venues sit on the same ten-stop stretch of the Purple Line, and so do two of the four railway stations. This is the bit you need.

KSR Bengaluru City. The station is fond of itself, and fair enough.

By road, or from Chennai

State buses mostly end at Majestic, across the road from KSR, so the same line works for you too.

Coming from Chennai by train? Many services stop at Cantonment before KSR. Get off there: it is three kilometres from the venue.

The last kilometre

Sunday’s venue

St. Joseph’s Boys’ High School is on Museum Road, a block off MG Road. Get to either metro station and walk the rest.

On Sundays the metro starts later, around 7 am. Fine for a morning keynote, less so for a 6:30 coffee.

Driving or riding? There is parking for two-wheelers and four-wheelers. An auto from anywhere in the centre is short and cheap, and most drivers take UPI.

If you come a day early

The venue sits in the right part of town for it. One unhurried day, none of it more than a short ride from Museum Road.

Greetings from the venue’s back garden.

Morning · under the canopy

Cubbon Park starts next to the venue: nearly 300 acres of old trees, and dogs walking their owners before the day warms up.

Afternoon · palace, lanes and dosa

Bangalore Palace for the Tudor turrets, Chickpet for the crowded wholesale lanes, and any darshini for filter coffee in a steel tumbler and a masala dosa.

Evening · 100 Feet Road

Indiranagar is three stops east of MG Road. The road is cafes, live music and microbreweries most of the way down.

Worth sorting before you fly

Which apps should I install?

Namma Metro, BMRCL’s official app, for QR tickets, so you can walk past the queue. Namma BMTC for live bus tracking, including the Vayu Vajra. And one or two of Uber, Ola, Rapido and Namma Yatri for cabs and autos.

Namma Yatri started here, as a zero-commission, open source alternative to the big ride-hailing apps.

How do I pay for things?

UPI works almost everywhere, auto drivers and street vendors included. Cards work in hotels, restaurants and bigger shops. Carry a little cash for anywhere that turns out to be cash only.

I land late at night. What is still running?

Cabs and the airport taxis run round the clock, and some Vayu Vajra routes keep going overnight at a lower frequency; the Namma BMTC app shows which buses are running. The metro runs from about 5 am to 11 pm, and from 7 am on Sundays.

What is the weather like in late November?

Roughly 15 to 28 degrees. Daytime is shirt weather; early mornings and evenings are not. Bring a light jacket, and shoes you can walk in, because you will walk more than you planned.

I have access or travel needs. Who do I tell?

Tell us through the contact page before the event. The earlier we know, the more we can arrange. The same goes for dietary requirements, which you can also add when you register.

See you on Museum Road

Sunday 22 November 2026. General Admission and Friend of #WCBLR tickets are on sale.

Whatever the map app says, leave ten minutes earlier. It is Bengaluru.
