What Are We Looking For?

We are seeking vibrant speakers to present talks covering a broad spectrum of WordPress topics, catering to both beginners and advanced users. We encourage out-of-the-box thinking and welcome creative ideas. Our aim is for attendees to depart with fresh insights and enhanced skills.

The Bengaluru WordPress Community, thriving in development, design, and content creation, eagerly awaits engaging discussions on these subjects. Whether you are an experienced developer, a visionary designer, a prolific content creator, an enthusiastic user, or a savvy business owner, we’re eager to hear from you.

WordCamp Bengaluru Talk Length

At the event, there are various types of talks, each with designated lengths:

  • Lightning Talks (Ideal for those new to WordPress) : 12 minutes
  • Advance Talks (Perfect for experienced WordPress users) : 24 minutes
  • Hands-On Workshops (Interactive sessions for practical learning) : 60 minutes
  • Expert Panel Discussions (Engaging Conversations with Subject Matter Experts): 30-Minute

You’re welcome to pitch multiple talks and propose them in different formats. However, to ensure thorough consideration, please limit your submissions to no more than three proposals. Remember, you can propose the same talk in different formats.

Audience Skill Level

When submitting a talk, please specify the intended audience type (e.g., Designers, Developers, Content Writers, Business Owners, Freelancers, Agencies, etc…) along with their proficiency level. Use the following guidelines to rate your audience’s skill level:

  • Beginner: Introducing fundamental concepts suitable for individuals with minimal or no experience.
  • Intermediate: Addressing topics that require prior knowledge or experience in basic concepts.
  • Expert: Delving into advanced concepts tailored for those with expertise in the subject matter.
  • All skill levels: Providing content accessible and beneficial to attendees of any proficiency level.

What language should my talk be in?

Most of our talks will be in English. With that said, we welcome sessions in Kannada (ಕನ್ನಡ) Local Language too!

What topics can I speak about?

Your session should be helpful for people that use and work with WordPress. We are looking for sessions that are helpful or educational and tell a story. Bonus points if you can embrace the virtual format in your talk. Examples of this would include live coding, interactive chats, and discussions.

Who can apply to Speak at WordCamp Bengaluru 2024

Anyone, regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, location, social class, or religious beliefs, is encouraged to apply to speak at WordCamp Bengaluru 2024. No prior speaking experience is required! We especially welcome submissions from local speakers to ensure a diverse representation. The WordPress community values inclusivity, and the organizers aim to reflect this in the speaker lineup.

Regardless of your background, your voice can contribute to the richness of the WordCamp program. If you’re hesitating, consider resources from the WordPress Diverse Speaker Training Group, available to bolster your confidence and skills.

Unsure if your topic will be selected? Apply anyway! Submitting a talk is a chance to reflect on your WordPress journey, regardless of whether it’s chosen. While we receive more submissions than can be accommodated, the variety of topics is essential for fulfilling WordPress’s mission.
